Baby Girl's Nursery Reveal

I am SO excited to finally share with y’all a full reveal of Baby Girl White’s nursery! 👼🏻 Everything you see in the room was installed at the end of February, so the space itself has been complete for about 5 weeks now. I’ve been DYING to share it since then, but I decided to hold off on showing too much of the room on my Instagram so I could save it for a big blog reveal. Very blogger-y of me, I know. 💁🏻‍♀️

It’s been super hard to keep it a secret because I find myself in this room all the time! Some mornings I just sit in the glider and drink my coffee or check my emails. “They” say this is normal behavior when you’re pregnant, although I have to say it confused David at first. But now he knows exactly where to find me if I’m not downstairs before 8am. 😊 I’m also in the space a lot putting away all her “stuff”, folding clothes, etc.

I’m happy to say that almost everything is done. Her clothes have been washed and either placed in the dresser or hung in the closet, her changing table is all set up with diapers and creams at the ready, and every inch of the space has been organized (thank you Kelly & Molly with Neat Method!). 💪🏻 The only thing left to do is set up her baby monitor, and that’s on our to do list for this weekend. 🙌🏻

The space is actually the room David and I lived in while we were renovating our downstairs. Not gonna lie… that was pretty rough! It was basically just a mattress on the floor and our stuff was everywhere. We thought we’d only be in there 3-4 months, but it ended up being 9 months before we moved back downstairs! 🙃 The walls and floors got pretty beaten up while we were up there, so the room definitely needed a fresh coat of paint. And I had already replaced the carpet about a year ago (our two dogs lived up there with us too 😬).

We’ve got 3 guest bedrooms upstairs. This one is the largest (which is why we chose it), and it connects to another (slightly smaller) bedroom via a Jack & Jill bathroom. Had the baby been a boy, we probably would have chosen the smaller guest room. I’m not sure why, but I just feel like the oldest girl should get the bigger room! Though maybe it’s because I was the oldest girl myself… 😅

The team at Heather Scott Home & Design worked with me to space plan and decorate the nursery. I worked with them previously to design our downstairs, so by now they are very familiar with my style and it’s a super seamless process. I’ve loved working with them - highly recommend! I will say - design inspiration wise - I definitely put in more time and research into this room than I did with other spaces in my home. I had more of a vision of exactly what I wanted, so I made and sent Heather a powerpoint presentation with my inspiration. 🤓 She and her team, of course, took my vision to the next level and nailed it!

I’d say the nursery I found online that I drew the most inspiration from was Kelly Wynne’s nursery. Obviously her color scheme is totally different than mine (I wanted pink!), but the design elements are very similar: modern light fixture, sleek white crib, abstract art, day bed. In fact, I have the same dresser (mine is the smaller version) and crib.

The other guidelines I gave Heather were….

  • Bright, cheery, sophisticated, feminine but no “theme”*

  • Color scheme: blush, pinks, creams, white, and grey

  • Would like to work in some pattern/floral

  • Consider ($) adding woodwork and/or wallpaper (not full room, but used as accent)**

  • Crib: just pick something that’s white, clean lined, gender neutral

  • Choose furniture that can transition with the room as baby grows up (i.e. no “baby” furniture)

*I’m not a big fan of “themes”, but you do you!

**Heather’s original plans had a super cool wood paneling detail on the wall behind the crib, but we scratched that idea to cut down on cost and instead opted to wallpaper the small wall behind the changing table area.

The GORGEOUS fabric you see in the picture below was the jumping off point for the color scheme. I’m so glad Heather’s team chose it because it meant we ended up adding some blues to my original color scheme, and the room turned out better for it! Not to mention I am obsessed with the fabric itself. It was pricey, so we just used it on the ottoman that sits in front of the glider.

Aside from the fabric, my favorite part of the room is the white and gold light fixture. In person, I promise you it makes such a big statement and really gives the room a modern edge. Fun story… when we went to place the order for the light, we learned it had been discontinued. 😩 I was so disappointed and none of the other options Heather sent me compared to this one. So for about a week I hunted the depths of the internet trying to find a supplier who still had one in stock, and I finally found it! 💃🏻 Pretty sure I got the last one in the country… sorry!

Heather is also the one who suggested we incorporate a daybed. To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about that as an option, but she convinced me we had the space. Now I can’t imagine the room without it! It’s got two twin mattresses, which will be really nice on nights when I’m up there with the baby + it gives us some flex space if we need to house a lot of guests around the holidays (which happens around here).

Needless to say, I’m thrilled with how the nursery turned out. It’s the perfect mix of modern and feminine and is exactly the sort of sophisticated space I wanted. I can’t believe she’ll be in here with us in less than a month! Eeek! 💖

But now, enough talking! Below I’ll link to all the room details I can. FYI… I was registered at Pottery Barn Kids, which is why so many things are from there. 👍🏻 I think they have the cutest baby stuff!
