Sunset Terrace Design Plan

Last week I shared with y’all the design plan for our family room, so this week I’m following up with a look at the design plan for the sunset terrace. As a reminder, this patio space sits directly off our family room and faces west (hence… sunset terrace). We get some pretty decent hill country views from out there, not to mention sunsets, so I prioritized getting it furnished quickly. No point in having a view if you’ve got nowhere to sit and enjoy it!

Above is a wide angle shot of how the terrace looks now. Complete with camping chairs, a squeegee, and a beach towel serving as a floor mat. 😂 As a reminder, we painted the stucco a fresh shade of white, re-stained the ceiling (which FYI isn’t as dark in person as in this picture), and updated the lighting. Family Room: Interior Design Plan and Furnishings

Today I’m sharing the interior design plan and furniture selections for our family room! As always, shout out to the fabulous ladies at Heather Scott Home and Design for their help putting my vision on paper. Which is disappointing, but such is life sometimes. If I’ve learned anything renovating and designing, it’s patience!

Let’s start with the layout…

Family Room: Before Pictures and Renovation Update

There’s finally some construction progress happening this week! Sub-contractors have been in and out almost daily working on odds and ends in various places around the house. Electricians, flooring installers, cabinet makers, A/C company, mirror & glass guys, painters, roofers, power washers, A/V technicians… the list is long! There are a lot of little projects happening, but the main space I’m focusing on right now is our family room.

We’re renovating the family room first because we’ll need a space to hang out as a family and watch TV, etc. during phase 2 of the renovation. In phase 2, we’ll completely gut what I refer to as “the Great Room” which is our kitchen, pantry, breakfast nook, casual living space and fireplace area, plus the laundry room. When that project begins (there’s no timeline yet!), it will be nice having the family room completed so we have somewhere cozy to hang during construction.
