Family Room: Before Pictures and Renovation Update

There’s finally some construction progress happening this week! Sub-contractors have been in and out almost daily working on odds and ends in various places around the house. Electricians, flooring installers, cabinet makers, A/C company, mirror & glass guys, painters, roofers, power washers, A/V technicians… the list is long! There are a lot of little projects happening, but the main space I’m focusing on right now is our family room.

We’re renovating the family room first because we’ll need a space to hang out as a family and watch TV, etc. during phase 2 of the renovation. In phase 2, we’ll completely gut what I refer to as “the Great Room” which is our kitchen, pantry, breakfast nook, casual living space and fireplace area, plus the laundry room. When that project begins (there’s no timeline yet!), it will be nice having the family room completed so we have somewhere cozy to hang during construction.

Life Update: We're Moving!

I’ve been dying to share this update for months now, and today’s the day I can finally spill the beans… we’re moving!

This has been in the works for a while, but for obvious reasons I wanted to wait until it was a “done deal” before sharing. The past few months have been a bit of whirlwind behind the scenes, but now it’s final. We sold our current home off-market and are in a leaseback with the new owners right now. We move into our new Austin home on April 15th.

Before and After: Formal Dining & Butler’s Pantry

Just a quick and easy home renovation related post today. I’m sharing some before and after images of our formal dining room and butler’s pantry. And, this is wholly unrelated, but I feel like you should know that I’m writing this post from my hotel bar in Dallas sipping a spritz and nomming on some nachos BY MYSELF. Truly living my best life in this moment. Also, this bar is always a SCENE, so the people watching is beyond epic. Cheers! First, let me just say that I wish I had some better before pictures of the dining room, but unfortunately I don’t. Sorry!

Before and After: Upstairs Family Room

My husband’s out of town, so it’s just me and Kate this weekend. I never sleep well when he’s gone (anyone else?!), and I woke up before 5am. In my haze, I decided to mix up my morning coffee scenery and made my way upstairs to our family room for some quiet time before Kate woke up. While there, I posted a few Instagram stories of the space and received some questions. Then I remembered I hadn’t shared this room on the blog yet. Today (well, tonight as I’m writing) I’m correcting that!
