Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you had an awesome week and that you have some fun (or relaxing!) plans scheduled for this weekend.

This morning we’re headed out in the RV to meet some friends at the Llano River for a quick, 36-hour trip. Kate is staying home with grandma! I’m looking forward to spending some QT with my husband without the baby… although I’m sure as soon as I pull out of the driveway I’ll miss her, haha! Motherhood is weird like that. 💗

Speaking of Kate, she’s 14 months old today. Time is flying! 👼🏻

I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention that today is Juneteenth. And I’ll be honest… I had forgotten the history of this holiday, so I studied up on it this week. For those who’ve also forgotten their history and civic lessons, here’s a primer on the holiday via the New York Post. And while it’s not yet a federally recognized, paid holiday, here’s a list of companies who announced they would be recognizing the day as such. Love to see it. 👏

Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been into this week:

  • HOME TOUR: Here’s a peek inside Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s vacation home. The beams and that view… stunning! It’s located near Coeur D’Alene in northwestern Idaho, which is almost to the Canadian border. I’ve had this lake on my list of places to visit for a couple years now. Perhaps we will make it up there later this summer! ⛰️

  • TRAVEL: Camper trailers and RV sales are up! GUILTY. 🙋🏻‍♀️ This article delves into the rise in demand due to COVID and speaks to what the industry has coined “COVID Campers”. Bloomberg actually interview the exact dealership from which we purchased our RV. According to the article, dealership traffic is up 30% over last May. 🏕️

  • TRAVEL: Here’s a quick and EXTREMELY informative break down on how and when European countries are reopening for tourism. It’s looking like most European countries - including France and Italy - will open their doors to U.S. tourists as of July 1st.

  • DESIGN: Screened in porches are making a comeback! Here’s a guide on how to properly choose all the elements, along with some pretty photos for design inspiration. 🏠

  • DESIGN: Monet is my favorite painter, and I’m dying to visit his property in Giverny outside of Paris. I’ve, of course, seen many pictures of his famous garden, but I’ve never seen his beautiful blue kitchen before! Crazy how well it’s stood the test of time. 🎨

  • FASHION: Gucci announced it’s abandoning the traditional fashion calendar and is re-thinking how it operates in light of COVID-19. Per the article, “major brands have conventionally followed a hectic schedule of separate men's and women's runway events at Fall-Winter and Spring-Summer fashion weeks in New York, Paris, London and Milan. Many also stage additional one-off "cruise" and pre-fall shows. But the coronavirus pandemic has intensified existing concerns about the environmental and economic sustainability of the jet-setting schedule -- and the cycles of consumption it encourages.” Gucci currently hosts five fashion shows a year and will be reducing that number to just two. 📆

  • SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram recently launched new tools that will allow major content creators to monetize their work on the platform. They’re currently beta-testing “bagde” purchasing during Instagram Lives and running advertisements up to 15 seconds in length during IGTV videos (of which the uploader will share in the ad revenue, similar to YouTube). 📹

  • HEALTH: According to a new study, Yoga eases symptoms of depression. Participants in the study did 1-2 yoga sessions per week lasting between 20 and 90 minutes long. The results showed that yoga moderately eased depressive symptoms across the mental health spectrum. Of course most of us have heard this before, but it’s always good to see it confirmed in newer, major studies! 🧘

That’s it for this week! Next week Neat Method Austin is coming over to help organize the RV, so stay tuned for updates via Instagram on that fun project.

XOXO,

Liz
